Part of the male psyche and a large extent of our upbringing revolves around the White Knight / Damsel in Distress scenario. It is part of daily life not limited to the client and provider relationship. In its simplest form it make take the form of a random act of kindness extending to an involvement that may require elements of high risk - physical,financial,etc.

Being a pimp is about controlling and exploiting people. Could be compared to psychopaths in business but that might be seen as a compliment. Basically a pimp lies when no lie is needed.Not only to his ladies but to clients and others.Controls not only the income and appearance of his ladies but also their mind. Not only in the sense of willing to work for him BUT how they think, what they do when they are not on the job, how they perceive their future. When the lady finds herself in a crisis the pimp always proposes a solution that is best for him and not anyone else.

Do White Knights cross the line between helping in a fashion that asks for nothing in return to become controlling pimps? Is part of the deal a pact made with a devil dressed in white? Is the cost of lifting the financial burden replaced with unmeasurable emotional controls, loss of freedom of expression and other freedoms that we take for granted?

Good topic. To comment specifically on the white knight syndrome, I don't think there is any kind of one size fits all way of looking it, because different things motivate different people.

Having said that, however, I would imagine that most hardcore white knights do frequently cross the line from hobbyist to pimp. Happens all the time. I think the main difference between the garden variety pimp, and the hardcore WK who works to pimp out his favorite provider, is that the WK in most cases isn't looking to control the provider or her habits.....I believe the main motivating factor behind the typical WK's actions is that he is desperate to get attention from his favorite ladies. And of course the WK also hopes to get more mileage out of his sessions from his favorite escorts. The typical hardcore White Knight could probably be summed up as being an individual who is desperate to get the attention of any lady.

The pimps do not have these hang ups and are only in it to make business and money.
